Taking the first step in your orthodontic journey
After a warm greeting from our staff, you’ll be introduced to some of our talented team and given a short tour of the office to help you feel comfortable with your surroundings. We’ll then take a few x-rays and photos for our diagnostic records, and may choose to do some impressions at this time as well. Following this, one of our doctors will perform a thorough oral examination.
Here at Foothill Orthodontics, we’re committed to making sure you understand each and every step of your orthodontic journey. It’s important to us that you never feel as though you’re being rushed or like your questions have gone unanswered. Once your exam has been completed, we’ll sit down with you and discuss a variety of topics related to your particular case, including:
- any oral issues you’re experiencing that orthodontics can address
- if treatment is needed immediately or if it would be better to delay it
- what treatment options we have available to correct the problem
- an estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
- the total estimated financial investment
- any payment or financing options we have available to you

Once you’ve decided on a treatment plan with one of our doctors, we’ll talk you through the investment needed for your new smile. Every orthodontic patient has their own unique needs and responds to treatment in their own way, so the total cost for treatment will vary from case to case. However, we’ll always be sure you understand all the associated costs of treatment before we move on to the next part of the process.

The next steps in the orthodontic process
After your consultation is complete, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to receive your new orthodontic appliance. You’ll also be scheduled for follow-up appointments with us. These will generally be once every eight to ten weeks or so throughout the treatment process. During these appointments, we’ll adjust your appliance if necessary, and check that your treatment is progressing as it should be.
Because these visits are an essential part of your treatment, it’s important that you don’t skip them. However, we know life can throw curveballs from time to time! We do our best to schedule appointments so that they’re convenient for you, but if for some reason you’re running late or can’t make it to your appointment, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible. We’ll reschedule so that your treatment doesn’t fall behind!
